Welcome to Franklin, Texas, the county seat of Robertson county. Franklin is located between the Brazos River to the west and the Navasota River to the east and is midway between Houston and Dallas. U.S. 79 is the major highway that serves Franklin. Starting near Texarcana, U.S. 79 crosses all of East Texas ending in Austin Metroplex.
Franklin is a town on the move but one that has been able to preserve a small town atmosphere and qualities that we all long for.
Currently, the city is partnering with businesses to foster a positive business climate. These include improving the town's appearance, promotional aspects and grants to businesses who wish to expand.

Our location is conveniently situated 130 miles from both Houston and Dallas, and100 miles from Austin. The population of Franklin in 2000 was approximately 1,470 people within city limits and 15,511 within the county. In 1990 the per media household income was $18,500 and in 1991 the per capita income was $14,097.
